Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is offering a Year Out Quantity Surveyor placement on site in the South West region, Devon. You will work with experienced commercial professionals to understand cost management, procurement, contracts and commercial decision-making while gaining live project experience.

You'll participate in budgets, cost estimates, subcontract procurement, valuations and payments, and build professional relationships to support your final year of study and future career.

Qualifications

• Currently studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline and undertaking a placement year.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to engage with a wide range of people.
• Collaborative mindset with enthusiasm to learn and take on responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day commercial management of construction projects.
• Support the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, forecasts and commercial reports.
• Assist with procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including enquiries and reviewing quotations.
• Develop understanding of subcontract packages and commercial processes for appointing and managing the supply chain.
• Assist with subcontractor valuations and payments.
