Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Moorland, a men's category C Prison and young offender institution located in South Yorkshire. This role involves 37.5 hours a week, working three shifts from 07:30 to 17:30 and one shift from 07:30 to 17:00, including one weekend incorporated in the shift pattern.

We are looking for caring, compassionate but also driven professionals who can help us drive our vision for a fair and inclusive healthcare access to all.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualized packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
  • Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and 1‑1 settings with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers; provide advice and information to individuals on a 1‑1 basis.
  • Support group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions; occasionally support dispensing.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person‑centred approach.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within substance misuse.
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
  • RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake.
  • Experience working with opiate‑dependent patients.
  • Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge.
  • Ideal but not essential: experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.

Salary

Full‑time, annual salary up to £49,174 per annum FTE, depending on experience.
