We are seeking an enthusiastic Student Member Engagement Executive to support and inspire our thriving community of over 11000 student members worldwide. This is an exciting role in securing the future growth of the RSC by engaging undergraduate students pursuing chemical science degrees and creating pathways to professional membership.

As Student Member Engagement Executive you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering initiatives that connect students with the RSC’s valuable resources and benefits. You’ll design and implement marketing campaigns and build meaningful relationships with academic institutions within the UK and ROI.

You will cultivate relationships with key contacts at academic institutions predominantly focussed within the UK and ROI but in key international institutions that are part of the RSC accredited universities community.

You will work alongside student-led Chemistry Societies to develop a community of leaders within our student membership and foster a culture of understanding of professional development across relevant institutions.

At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge or London office you will be able to work from home within the UK with the expectation that you will attend the office as needed for your role.

This role will involve extensive travel across the UK.

Accountabilities
  • Develop and deliver the membership value proposition for undergraduate students creating activities and services that drive student involvement with the RSC
  • Advocate for student member needs as their central point of contact using audience insights to inform engagement strategies
  • Create and deliver an inclusive onboarding and engagement plan tailored to qualification stages promoting RSC activities and embedding a culture of CPD and professional body interaction
  • Deliver an effective retention pipeline transitioning student members to Associate Membership
  • Work with the Volunteer and Member Engagement Manager to develop visible volunteer and outreach opportunities aligned to students needs and strategic priorities
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at academic institutions including RSC academic representatives student chemistry society contacts and accreditation contacts
  • Represent the RSC at student-focused events and organise / contribute to RSC events and meetings where appropriate
  • Monitor, report on and contribute to team activities and outcomes
Our ideal candidate will :
  • Possess a degree in the chemical sciences and an understanding of the requirements and experiences a student will encounter when completing a Chemistry / STEM degree qualification and how a professional body membership can help.
  • Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to deliver effective recruitment talks and influence joining decisions.
  • Be able to make informed assessments and analysis and communicate these.
  • Have a proactive approach to solving problems and developing new approaches whilst balancing and prioritising across multiple projects approaches and initiatives.
  • Be able to interact influence and network competently with RSC colleagues members and peers at other professional bodies.
  • Be able to provide reasoned opinion and objective advice to colleagues and members.
  • Possess a driving licence (desirable). Reasonable adjustments will be considered.
