Role
We are looking to recruit a Strategic Planner to join the Land Team. This role reports to the Planning Director and will have contact with Planning Consultants, Local Authorities, Local Planning Officers, and members of the public.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planning and development appraisals, planning applications and land promotion within the residential sector for both immediate and strategic sites.
- Produce site assessments, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis, interpretation and consideration of material considerations, and new site appraisals.
- Prepare and project manage different types of planning applications from Outline / Full and Reserved Matters to discharge of planning conditions accurately.
- Liaise and brief internal layout designers, external consultants and officers at Local Planning Authorities prior, during and post submission to develop strong working relationships.
- Prepare Design & Access Statements and other planning documents required to support applications accurately and on time.
- Organise supporting information and attend required stakeholder / public consultation events with professionalism to build confidence with the general public.
- Formulate planning strategies to promote medium and long term development sites through the plan‑making process under guidance of the Planning Manager.
- On occasion deputise for the Senior Planner to provide support and assistance to the team.
- Monitor development plan progress and the 5‑year land supply within each Local Planning Authority.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in the private or public sector in planning policy, Local Plan or strategic land.
- Degree or Masters in Planning with RTPI accreditation and rounded knowledge of planning.
- Ability to adapt to change and work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
