Job summary

Amey is recruiting for an Operational Controller in Newton-le-Willows to coordinate incident response on the strategic highway network. This site-based role operates on a rotating shift pattern, focusing on safe, efficient journeys and stakeholder communications.

You will work with a close-knit team to deploy crews, manage defects, and ensure continuity of service across 24-hour operations. This is a demanding but rewarding highway operation position.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating Incident Response Teams across the highway network.
• Deploying crews to accidents and incidents.
• Managing defects reported by inspectors and police.
• Serving as central communication link between operations and stakeholders.
• Supporting daily handovers to ensure continuity of service.
• Coordinating resource deployment and operational responses.
• Coordinating rolling road blocks and access arrangements as needed.
• Recording and communicating key operational information accurately.
• Supporting safe, responsive and customer-focused highways service.
