Job summary

Amey is seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative to join Area 10 Strategic Highways at Preston Brook, Runcorn. You will maintain and improve the strategic road network and support a range of highway maintenance activities.

The role involves a 42-hour week, 12-hour shifts, and a 4-on 4-off rotation, with winter services and emergency standby. You will drive vehicles, undertake inspections, and ensure safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid LGV Class C licence required.
• Driver CPC qualification completed (35 hours).
• CSCS Card holders preferred.
• Personal Highways Passport advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine highway maintenance activities.
• Support minor civil engineering works and general upkeep.
• Install and remove temporary traffic management systems.
• Undertake winter maintenance and emergency response duties.
• Drive and operate vehicles and plant equipment; perform daily checks.
• Record hours and defects; maintain documentation.
• Attend briefings and ensure safety and quality standards.
