Smartsearch Recruitment Ltd in Dudley is seeking an experienced Environmental & Compliance Manager to own environmental compliance across our waste and recycling operations. You will navigate regulatory changes, manage permits and liaise with regulatory bodies to support growth.

The role requires deep knowledge of environmental legislation, waste classifications, and ISO management systems, with strong communication across diverse teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental/compliance within waste management, recycling or resource recovery sectors.
• Ability to interpret regulatory change and translate into practical actions for business.
• Experience dealing with Environment Agency and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

• Manage environmental permits, exemptions, variations and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with waste and environmental legislation, including digital waste tracking.
• Maintain oversight of waste classifications, codes, documentation, movements and downstream outlets.
• Liaise with Environment Agency and other regulators as required.
• Manage water discharge consents and other environmental notifications.
• Support planning, permitting and environmental requirements for new sites and expansion projects.
• Support ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems.
• Advise operational teams on environmental compliance and regulatory changes.
