Qualifications

• Strong background in environmental compliance within metals/waste/resource recovery sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of Environmental Permitting Regulations and UK environmental legislation.
• Experience with regulatory submissions including permits, water discharge consents, and waste shipment documentation.
• Familiarity with ISO management systems (9001, 14001, 45001).
• Confident communicator with ability to engage across teams.

About the Role

We are working with a leading UK metals business focused on turning waste into valuable secondary resources. They are seeking an experienced Environmental & Compliance Manager to take ownership of all environmental and regulatory compliance across their site operations. This is a key leadership role within the local management team, ensuring the business not only meets its legal obligations but stays ahead of evolving legislationsupporting sustainable growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of environmental compliance and ensure full adherence to UK environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Manage environmental permitting, planning requirements, water discharge consents, and waste shipment documentation and notifications.
• Proactively monitor and interpret regulatory changes, ensuring the business remains compliant and commercially competitive.
• Act as a core member of the site leadership team
• Maintain and develop integrated management systems in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Support operational decision-making by providing clear, accurate compliance and environmental reporting.

About You

• Strong background in environmental compliance within the waste management, metals, or resource recovery sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of Environmental Permitting Regulations and associated UK environmental legislation.
• Experience managing regulatory submissions including permits, water discharge consents, and waste shipment documentation.
