Job summary

Total Waste Recruitment is seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to oversee health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance across a multi-site waste management and recycling operation. The role requires strong HSEQ experience, solid knowledge of UK legislation and the ability to lead teams while maintaining high safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• HSEQ, HSE, SHEQ, or compliance experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Multi-site operational management experience.
• Experience managing teams within an industrial environment.
• Strong audit and compliance experience.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to influence, engage and lead at all levels.
• Proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• As HSEQ Manager, you will be responsible for supporting operational performance while driving high standards of health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance across multiple sites.
• Your responsibilities will include:
• Manage health, safety and compliance across all sites.
• Provide practical HSEQ advice to management and employees.
• Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Conduct audits, inspections, investigations and compliance reviews.
• Support external audits and regulatory inspections.
• Maintain and improve HSEQ management systems.
• Monitor environmental compliance and permitting requirements.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and implement effective controls.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture.
• Liaise with the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales.
• Monitor performance, corrective actions and operational improvements.
• Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance.
