Job summary

5 Star Recruitment seeks a Senior Waste Management Officer to oversee regulatory enforcement and technical services for waste management within the Wiltshire Council area. You will support recycling centre operations, manage high-value contracts, and provide expert guidance to senior management and external partners.

The role requires a degree in an environmental field or equivalent experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable policies.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in service provision environments and dealing with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong ICT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Support the Waste Treatment and Disposal Manager in daily operation of Household Recycling Centre network and contracts (£5.8m PA).
• Support management of high value waste management and landfill diversion contracts (over £25m PA).
• Deputise for the Waste Treatment and Disposal Manager on operational/contract issues.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure statutory compliance.
• Prepare and present technical reports to inform decisions by senior management.
