Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers is seeking an Environmental & Compliance Manager to own environmental and regulatory compliance across site operations. This leadership role sits within the local management team to ensure legal obligations are met and the business stays ahead of evolving regulations.

The role requires strong experience in waste/metals sectors, familiarity with UK environmental legislation, and handling of permits, water discharges, and waste shipments.

Qualifications

• Strong background in environmental compliance within metals/waste/resource recovery sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of Environmental Permitting Regulations and UK environmental legislation.
• Experience with regulatory submissions including permits, water discharge consents, and waste shipment documentation.
• Familiarity with ISO management systems (9001, 14001, 45001).
• Confident communicator with ability to engage across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead all environmental compliance and ensure adherence to UK legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Manage environmental permitting, planning requirements, water discharge consents, and waste shipment docs and notifications.
• Monitor regulatory changes to keep the business compliant and competitive.
• Act as a core member of the site leadership team.
