The Sterile Processing (SPD) Technician is responsible for the decontamination and processing of surgical instruments and equipment.

Part‑time (0.6) role working Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM with rotating start times. Primarily 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM. No call, weekends, or holidays out of our Plymouth Surgery Center.

Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i‑Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients greater control over their healthcare.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates knowledge of processes, procedures, quality assurance, chemicals and medical instruments sufficient to decontaminate, assemble, wrap, and sterilize equipment, supplies, and instruments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of equipment function sufficient to determine operational adequacy and distinguish between operator error and equipment failure.
  • Demonstrates basic computer and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control, and safety standards sufficient to perform all assignments within safety parameters.
  • Independently follows all cleaning checklists thoroughly.
  • Initiates cleaning and restocking of all work areas and orders supplies as needed.

  • Applies principles of aseptic technique, standard and transmission.

  • Accountable for maintaining and storing appropriate records for sterilizer, sterrad, and all maintenance reports.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and strives to perform all tasks accurately.
  • Fosters the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, orientees and students (includes functioning as a preceptor).
  • Participates in continuing education, fostering career and skill development, including meeting departmental continuing education requirements.
  • Assists in managing controllable costs through the proper, non‑wasteful use of surgery center resources.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Sterile Processing Technician certification required or obtained within 18 months of hire date.
  • BLS Preferred.
