Job summary

Engine by Starling is hiring a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and run cloud foundations across regions and providers. You will own scalable infrastructure on GCP, ensure reliability, and drive security-focused design across the engineering org.

You will lead complex projects, write operational docs, and mentor peers while collaborating across teams to deliver the next generation of cloud-native banking platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience with GCP multi-region disaster recovery and policy-based management.
• Proficient with Terraform and modular code practices.
• Hands-on with containers, distributed systems, and immutable infrastructure.
• Knowledge of security by design and iso27001/soc2/PCI-DSS concepts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and RFC/ADR documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, build and maintain scalable infrastructure on GCP.
• Ensure performance and reliability of cloud environments with cost awareness.
• Lead complex infrastructure projects from inception to run.
• Write RFCs/ADRs and runbooks for production readiness.
• Implement key/secret management with Cloud KMS and Secret Manager.
• Provide training sessions and share knowledge with the team.
