Job summary

Engine by Starling seeks a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and run cloud foundations for our global, cloud-native banking platform. You will own scalable infrastructure on GCP across regions and providers, focusing on reliability, security and cost efficiency.

You\'ll lead complex projects from inception to production, write RFCs and ADRs, and mentor teammates while shaping future capabilities of Engine — with a strong emphasis on automation, observability and best practices.

Qualifications

• Proven GCP multi-region disaster recovery experience.
• Bootstrapping Google Cloud Organisations and policy hardening.
• Experience with GCP services including GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, IAM and VPC Service Controls.
• Clean, modular Terraform code practices.
• SOA with containers, distributed systems and immutable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, build and maintain scalable infrastructure on GCP.
• Ensure performance and reliability of cloud environments with cost awareness.
• Automate and reduce manual implementation.
• Build security by design as a core foundation.
• Maintain platform compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS and 3DS.
