Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer focused on Site Reliability and Operations Excellence to own incident management and drive reliability across a complex production environment in the UK. You will lead cross-functional efforts with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Security to prevent outages and improve resilience.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• Experience improving operational processes including incident management, root cause analysis, and governance.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering concepts including SLIs/SLAs, error budgets, and capacity planning.
• Ability to influence across teams and communicate clearly in high-urgency situations.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with data-driven decision making.
• Hands-on cloud experience with AWS/GCP/Azure and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the incident management lifecycle with measurable improvements.
• Serve as Incident Commander for major incidents with clear stakeholder communication.
• Drive operational readiness through drills, game days, and failure-mode exercises.
• Define, implement, and enforce reliability standards including SLIs/SLIs, error budgets, monitoring coverage.
• Strengthen change and release management practices with readiness checks and rollback procedures.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Security to prioritize reliability work.
• Lead problem management and root cause analysis for durable remediation.
• Own reliability reporting and governance with executive-ready summaries.
• Facilitate operational forums to drive accountability and align priorities.
• Promote enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices with secure coding and review.
• Apply SDLC tools and AI-assisted development capabilities to improve automation.
