Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer focused on Site Reliability and Operations Excellence to protect reliability at scale. You will own incident management lifecycle, act as Incident Commander for major incidents, and drive drills, standardization, and durable remediation across complex production systems.

You will partner across engineering, product, infrastructure, and security to improve outcomes, implement reliable patterns, and guide safer AI-assisted tooling within the team.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering and advanced applied experience.
• Experience improving incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, and governance.
• Knowledge of SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, capacity planning and observability.
• Ability to influence across teams and communicate in urgent situations.
• Strong analytical skills with metrics and actionable insights.
• Hands-on with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Terraform.
• Systematic problem-solving for complex distributed production systems.
• Ownership mindset with urgency in ambiguous/fast-moving contexts.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and validating AI outputs.
• Understanding responsible AI use in engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve the incident management lifecycle with measurable gains.
• Lead as Incident Commander for major incidents with clear communications.
• Drive drills and game days to improve readiness and resilience.
• Define reliability standards, SLIs/SLAs, error budgets, and monitoring.
• Strengthen change and release practices with runbooks and hygiene checks.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Infra, and Security to prioritize reliability work.
• Lead problem management and root cause analysis to durable remediation.
• Own reliability reporting and executive-ready governance summaries.
• Facilitate operations reviews and reliability councils to drive accountability.
• Adopt AI-assisted engineering practices with safe, validated usage.
