Job description
About the role

If you're someone who comes alive outdoors - kicking a ball around, walking the fields, throwing a rugby pass, or just chatting in the sunshine - then this could be your perfect role.

We're supporting a fantastic alternative provision near Eastleigh that helps young people rebuild their confidence through movement, routine, and good old-fashioned fresh air.

It's the kind of place where students (and staff!) learn differently. Where a morning stroll replaces a classroom. Where conversations happen while playing, not at a desk. And where the environment itself helps young people feel calmer, safer, and more open.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting young people aged 9-16 through outdoor learning and sports‑led mentoring
  • Leading fun, low‑pressure activities: walks, ball games, fishing, target games, cricket, rugby skills
  • Helping students regulate emotions and build positive routines
  • Spending time 1:1 getting to know their stories, triggers, and strengths
  • Encouraging independence and celebrating small wins
  • Using brilliant facilities at a nearby multi‑sport venue
  • Being that calm, consistent person they can rely on
What you’ll experience
  • You'll be outside a lot – perfect for someone who prefers active, hands‑on days
  • The environment is relaxed, friendly, and not at all school‑like
  • The team is supportive and truly passionate about their work
  • The young people are brilliant, funny, unpredictable, and full of potential
  • You’ll get proper training, mentoring, and opportunities to grow
  • Every day feels meaningful – you'll end each one knowing you've helped someone
Ideal candidate
  • Enjoys sport, movement, or outdoor activities
  • Is patient, positive, and calm even when things get tricky
  • Connects easily with young people and knows how to bring a bit of humour into your day
  • Understands that behaviour is communication
  • Might come from sport, coaching, youth work, alternative provision, or something completely different – we care more about your approach than your CV
Role details
  • Full‑time, Monday – Friday (8:30am–3:30pm)
  • Starting: ASAP
  • Pay: £93 per day, temp‑to‑perm after 12 weeks
  • Free Team Teach and ongoing CPD
  • Based in Eastleigh, great for anyone driving via the M3
