Specimen Processing Technician – 3rd Shift

Pay Rate: $19.48–$26 per hour
3rd Shift – 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
M–F with Saturday rotation (every 4th week includes 1 Saturday in lieu of Tue/Wed/Thu)
The Specimen Processing Technician (SPT I) provides essential support within the Specimen Processing Department, performing data entry, specimen handling, and processing tasks with accuracy, efficiency, and reliability. This role requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and confidence in performing high-volume, time-sensitive laboratory support functions while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
Perform general support duties including A-station, presort, pickup/delivery of specimens, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting
Enter high-volume alphanumeric data (minimum 6,000 keystrokes/hour) with accuracy
Maintain understanding of specimen types and associated testing requirements
Learn and follow compliance regulations related to test ordering
Handle frequent day-to-day changes with flexibility and attention to detail
Work in a production environment focused on quality, productivity, and turnaround times
Follow safety procedures in a biohazard environment and maintain a clean work area
Communicate effectively with internal staff
Support night shift operations, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer knowledge
No prior experience required, but laboratory or medical background preferred
Experience in production environments, hospital labs, or clinical specimen processing is beneficial
Previous laboratory experience
Medical terminology exposure
Experience with clinical laboratory workflows
Prior work in high-volume operational environments
