An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and driven pharmacist to join our vibrant Chapel Allerton Pharmacy Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Main duties of the job
  • Deliver specialist clinical pharmacy services to rheumatology and dermatology teams, supporting day case units, home care medicines, and inpatient wards.
  • Lead medicines optimisation by performing reconciliation, targeted reviews, and ensuring smooth, safe patient discharges.
  • Take charge of medicines management across inpatient and outpatient areas, driving excellence in care.
  • Validate cutting‑edge targeted therapies across diverse sub‑specialities after receiving expert training.
  • Make your voice heard at MDT meetings, contributing clinical expertise to shape patient outcomes.
  • Be at the forefront of innovation, supporting the rollout of new rheumatology and dermatology treatments.
  • Influence high‑level decisions by assisting with Drug & Therapeutics processes, including unlicensed medicine applications and compassionate use schemes.
  • Drive improvement projects and take on link roles in key areas like medication safety and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Champion quality standards through audits and reviews, ensuring compliance with local and national guidelines.
  • Inspire and mentor future pharmacists, supervising Foundation and Trainee Pharmacists during their rotations.
  • Play a pivotal role in core pharmacy services, including supporting the Chapel Allerton Dispensary.

Job responsibilities
  • Provide specialist clinical pharmacist service to patients and the multidisciplinary team within their specialty.
  • Ensure medicines are used appropriately, safely, and cost‑effectively in line with Trust policy.
  • Monitor drug use within their clinical area, recording significant interventions and basic financial aspects.
  • Supervise and collaborate with the team on development and implementation of treatment protocols and drug use guidelines.
  • Train pharmacists and other health care professionals on drug use within the clinical area.
  • Provide at least one 4‑hour session of service cover in the dispensary or aseptic dispensary per week.
  • Act as the Responsible Pharmacist in line with local procedures.
Qualifications
  • Registered pharmacist (GPhC).
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in all domains of the General Level Framework.
  • Specialist knowledge in the clinical area (rheumatology or dermatology).
  • Experience in dealing with complex clinical issues and influencing multidisciplinary teams.
