Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking a caring Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a school in Dudley. The role focuses on supporting pupils with a range of SEND, including ASC, ADHD, and SEMH, to access learning and reach their potential.

You will work alongside teachers and the SEN team to create an inclusive learning environment, building positive relationships and monitoring progress as part of a dedicated support network.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable.
• Good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs, or other additional needs.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient with a nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to adapt to individual pupil needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils to access the curriculum with tailored activities.
• Assist with EHCP implementation and progress tracking.
• Encourage pupil confidence, independence and social skills.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Build trust while maintaining professional boundaries with pupils and staff.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN team.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, parents and external professionals.
