Join our dedicated team as an Alternative Provision Teacher, focusing on delivering tailored educational support to pupils who find it challenging to access mainstream education due to SEN, SEMH, medical needs, or while awaiting placement in a specialist school setting. This role requires a compassionate and skilled educator who can create and deliver effective 1:1 and small group sessions.
Day-to-day of the role
- Plan, prepare, and deliver a range of educational sessions, evaluating these activities to inform future learning and meet the diverse needs and interests of each child.
- Provide learning opportunities tailored to the needs, abilities, and development stages of each student, aiming to give every student the chance to experience success and reach their full potential.
- Establish effective and positive relationships with students based on mutual respect and recognition of each student's individuality and cultural identity.
- Work collaboratively with the team across various locations in Cambridgeshire to deliver high-quality education.
- Maintain detailed individual records for each child to monitor and track progress, aiding in planning and assessment.
- Collaborate closely with schools, parents/carers, and multi-agency teams to support each student's educational journey.
- Act as a key worker/lead tutor for a small group of students, supporting their pastoral welfare.
- Participate in meetings and professional development training to stay updated with educational practices and regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs including English and Maths (Essential)
- Degree (Essential)
- Involvement in continuing professional development activities (Essential)
- Higher degree or further professional qualifications (Desirable)
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (Desirable)
- Proven experience in 1:1 tuition and leading strong student progress (Essential)
- Experience in developing teaching materials that improve student performance (Essential)
- Experience supporting students with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) through a trauma-informed approach (Essential)
- Experience in raising the attainment of SEND and/or alternative provision students through positive interventions (Essential)
- Experience forming positive relationships with young people and parents (Essential)
- Experience liaising with external agencies (Desirable)
- Knowledge of child safeguarding issues and measures (Essential)
- Excellent organisational, communication, and subject knowledge skills (Essential)
- Understanding of emotional literacy (Desirable)
