Job summary

Springside Special School in Rochdale is seeking two enthusiastic Teaching Assistants Level 1+ to support pupils with complex educational needs from Nursery to Year 6 across all Springside sites.

The temporary role offers safeguarding responsibilities, promotes inclusive learning, and requires flexibility to work across sites. Hours are 32.5 per week (Term Time + 1 Week) with an actual salary of £19,738–£20,051.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C, or GCSE level 4-9, or a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent).
• Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning (QCF, NVQ prior to 2010 or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one.
• Ability to converse at ease in accurate spoken English.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Acceptance of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and background check.
• Declares no immigration restrictions preventing work in the UK and can supply Right to Work evidence if invited for an interview.

Responsibilities

• Support learners in a variety of learning activities, encouraging participation throughout the school day.
• Provide reassurance, encouragement and practical support to help learners feel safe, happy and ready to learn.
• Promote positive engagement and contribute to an environment where every child feels valued and included.
• Work across any of the Springside sites, collaborating with experienced colleagues and supporting professional development.
• Assist with safeguarding and welfare responsibilities, adhering to the school’s safeguarding policy.
