Job summary

Open Cosmos Ltd. is seeking an embedded software engineer to design, implement, and validate satellite flight software. You will work across Linux and RTOS-based systems, participate in code reviews and CI/CD, and help ensure software reliability for mission-critical space missions.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, understand spacecraft subsystems, and contribute to post-launch operations. The role offers flexible base locations and a strong focus on secure, fault-tolerant design.

Qualifications

• Strong programming capability in Rust, or solid understanding in C or C++ with the motivation and ability to transition to Rust in a production environment.
• Proficiency in Linux development environments with scripting and command-line tooling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, pytest).
• Understanding of secure coding and fault-tolerant design for mission-critical contexts.
• Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and how software interfaces with them.
• Familiarity with ECSS and embedded software standards.
• Knowledge of RTOS concepts in embedded/space software environments.
• Experience with software verification and validation and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, validate, and maintain satellite flight software.
• Support ground tools to ensure robust software for space missions.
• Develop features for Linux and RTOS-based systems according to requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, testing campaigns, and CI/CD to maintain high quality.
• Maintain configuration control, documentation, and full software traceability.
• Collaborate with Systems, Electronics, and Mission Operations to integrate subsystems.
• Contribute to post-launch operations and build/integration activities.
• Drive continuous improvement in architecture, design, and processes.
