Job summary

Open Cosmos Ltd. is seeking an embedded software engineer to design, validate, and maintain satellite flight software. You will work across Linux and RTOS-based systems, contribute to ground tools, and ensure robust, traceable code for space missions.

You will collaborate with Systems, Electronics, and Mission Operations teams, participate in CI/CD, and help drive architecture improvements for reliable space software products.

Qualifications

• Strong programming capability in Rust, or solid understanding in C or C++ with motivation to transition to Rust in production.
• Proficiency in compiled and object-oriented programming with emphasis on performance and reliability.
• Experience in Linux development environments and scripting.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Ability to apply secure coding and fault-tolerant design principles.
• Working knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and how software interfaces with them.
• Awareness of ECSS and space engineering standards.
• Understanding of RTOS concepts in embedded/space software.
• Familiarity with software verification, testing strategies, and traceability.
• Awareness of fault detection and recovery in space applications.

Responsibilities

• Designing, implementing, validating, and maintaining satellite flight software.
• Supporting ground tools and ensuring robust, traceable software for space missions.
• Developing features for Linux and RTOS-based systems according to requirements.
• Participating in code reviews, testing campaigns, and CI/CD processes.
• Maintaining configuration control and full software traceability.
• Collaborating with Systems, Electronics, and Mission Operations teams.
• Contributing to post-launch operations and build/integration activities.
• Driving continuous improvement in architecture, design, and engineering processes.
