Job summary

Berkeley Scott Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced Sous Chef for a school catering role in Tottenham. This opportunity offers weekday shifts and a focus on education catering, with a supportive recruitment team to facilitate ongoing work.

Ideal candidates will have experience in a busy kitchen, strong leadership and communication skills, and relevant Food Safety/Allergen qualifications. DBS checks for child workforce may be required, and a right to work in the UK is necessary.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a busy kitchen.
• Experience working in school or education catering is desirable.
• Food Safety and Allergen qualifications completed or willingness to complete training.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef with the daily running of the school kitchen.
• Preparing and cooking fresh, high quality meals for pupils and staff.
• Assisting with menu planning and dietary requirements.
• Supervising and supporting kitchen staff.
• Maintaining food hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP).
• Monitoring stock levels and minimising food waste.
• Ensuring the kitchen is clean and ready for service.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef with the daily running of the school kitchen.
• Preparing and cooking fresh, high quality meals for pupils and staff.
• Assisting with menu planning and dietary requirements.
• Supervising and supporting kitchen staff.
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene, health and safety standards.
• Following HACCP procedures and allergen guidelines.
• Monitoring stock levels and minimising food waste.
• Ensuring the kitchen is clean, organised and ready for service.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or in a similar role.
• Experience in a busy professional kitchen.
• School or education catering experience is desirable but not essential.
• Food Safety and Allergen qualifications, or willingness to complete the required training.
• Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
• A reliable, professional and positive attitude.
• An Enhanced DBS check for the child workforce, including the relevant barred list check where required, or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Pay rates will depend on experience and the requirements of the role.
