Job summary

Berkeley Scott Recruitment in Romford is actively recruiting an Education Chef for a school kitchen. This role offers term-time hours, weekday work, and the potential for long-term or permanent placement, with competitive pay and weekends off.

You will assist in preparing nutritious meals, support the Head Chef with menus, and uphold high food hygiene standards. A Level 2 Food Safety certificate, enhanced DBS, and right to work in the UK are required or pursued.

• Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of nutritious meals for students and staff.

• Monitor stock levels and assist with orders.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting in the preparation and cooking of nutritious, balanced meals for students and staff
• Supporting the Head Chef with menu planning and kitchen operations
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanlinessMonitoring stock levels and assisting with orders
• Supervising and supporting kitchen assistants during service
• Ensuring compliance with all food safety and health & safety regulations
• Helping deliver an efficient and high-quality catering service

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 1 year's experience as a Chef
• Previous experience within education catering is highly desirable
• Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)
• Level 2 Food Safety and Allergens certificate
• Reliable, professional, and excellent communication skills
• A passion for preparing healthy and nutritious meals for children and young people

Pay rates are dependent on experience and the client site.
