Job summary

Berkeley Scott Recruitment is recruiting experienced Education Chefs for the School year starting in September in the Carlisle area, in partnership with Impact Food Group. These term-time roles offer weekday work, work-life balance, and potential long-term placements in school kitchens.

Roles include preparing meals, menu planning, stock management, and ensuring hygiene standards. DBS checks and Level 2 Food Safety training are provided, with competitive pay and optional weekend/holiday extra

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience as senior Chef, preferably in a school or similar environment.
• Right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available for these roles.
• Enhanced DBS with child workforce or willingness to obtain is essential.
• Strong, reliable, and excellent communication skills are essential.
• A passion for providing healthy meals for children and young people.
• Minimum Level 2 Food Safety and Allergens, as well as additional compliance training, is essential and provided free of charge.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking nutritious, balanced meals for students and staff.
• Planning menus in line with school guidelines and dietary requirements.
• Ensuring high standards of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness.
• Managing stock, ordering supplies, and minimising waste.
• Supervising and supporting kitchen assistants during service.
• Adhering to all food safety and health & safety regulations.
