Overview

• 6 months (initially)
• Outside IR35
• Remote (occasional travel to Basingstoke area, ~2x per month)
• £485-£545 per day

The Role

We're looking for a Principal Engineer with a blend of Software Development and Data Engineering skills to join an exciting discovery/proof of concept project. You'll be embedded in a Legal Operations Product Team working across a portfolio of 15 products, helping to shape how integrations and data flows are delivered in a complex enterprise environment.

This is a chance to work on a genuinely greenfield initiative, where your input will directly influence technical direction and product roadmap decisions.

What You''ll Be Doing

• Designing and delivering integrations across a portfolio of legal products.
• Developing and optimising data pipelines using Databricks.
• Building and consuming APIs from multiple product systems.
• Collaborating with product managers and legal operations stakeholders to define requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Driving best practice across software and data engineering within a proof of concept setting.

What We''re Looking For

• Strong background across Software Development and Data Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks.
• Proven track record of delivering API integrations in product ecosystems.
• Experience contributing to discovery/PoC projects where technical direction is still being defined.
• Exposure to legal enterprise environments (or other highly regulated industries) would be a big plus.
• Strong familiarity with JavaScript (Node.js/React) environments
• A collaborative engineer who enjoys problem-solving and influencing outcomes.
