Job summary

A reputable construction company in Plymouth is seeking a Site Manager to lead a Battery Energy Storage project. The successful candidate will oversee site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Essential qualifications include SMSTS and First Aid certifications alongside a strong background in civil or electrical projects. This is a 6–7 month role with a daily rate of £280–£300 based on experience.

  • Experience in civil works or mechanical and electrical installation is required.

Job description
Site Manager – Battery Storage Project

Location: Plymouth

Rate: £280–£300 per shift (depending on experience)

Duration: 6–7 months

We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Site Manager to oversee the delivery of a 20MW Battery Energy Storage (BESS) project in Plymouth. The project involves civil works, electrical installation, and commissioning on a decommissioned diesel generator site being converted into a full battery storage facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time and to specification
  • Coordinate civils and electrical subcontractors on site
  • Ensure full compliance with H&S and client standards
  • Manage site documentation, permits, RAMS and progress reporting
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and represent the client professionally
Requirements
  • SMSTS and First Aid (essential)
  • NVQ Level 6 (Black CSCS Card) preferred
  • Strong background in civils or mechanical and electrical installation
  • Previous experience within renewables or battery storage projects is highly desirable
  • IOSH, NEBOSH or BS7671 awareness an advantage
