SHSCT Early Pregnancy/Gynae Ambulatory Nurse, Band 6
Assess, develop, implement and evaluate patient/client care, under the guidance of the line manager. Contribute to effective team working and supervise qualified and / or unqualified staff. Comply with nursing strategy, trust policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and codes of conduct. Adhere to Trust Behaviours.Please note this post’s working hours will include normal clinic hours in addition to long days and weekend working.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to DHSSPS and NMC guidelines for practice requirements and standards, for example, safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medicinal products.
- Adhere to Trust guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Maintain own professional and personal development in accordance with the NMC Code (2010), standards and professional guidelines.
- Establish and maintain relationships based on mutual respect communicating on a regular basis with the patient / client, relatives and carers’ in the provision of care and services.
- Adhere to the Data Protection Act (1998).
- Maintain effective records management ensuring all documentation written or electronic is managed as per HSC Trust and NMC (2009) guidelines.
- Provide person-centred care to ensure continuity of care within agreed standards
Skills and Qualifications
- Have three years post-registration experience with 2 years in a gynaecology setting.
- Degree, diploma or other nursing qualification allowing registration with NMC.
- Registered on part 1 (Branch - Adult ) of the NMC register.
- Have completed a specialist practice course relevant to early pregnancy this must include ultra sound examination or be willing to complete the above and achieve competencies for sign off within an agreed time-frame.
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
- This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post
