Shift Technician
Job Purpose
Working as part of a team to cover a continental shift pattern, candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a wide variety of mechanical/electrical plant and infrastructure in a data centre environment. Role will include supervision of visiting 3rd party contractors and issuing of permits under a safe system of work.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical problems in a commercial environment, including fault-finding, rewiring, and monitoring.
- Ensuring that routine PPMs are carried out to all mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and asset lists.
- Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times.
- Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices at all times.
- Be able to work alone to find and present faults and concerns in mechanical and electrical systems without receiving explicit direction.
- Monitor and interpret the BMS to provide rapid response to issues associated with critical systems environment.
Knowledge Skills & Experience
- Knowledge and experience of working in a commercial mechanical and electrical installation environment
- Possess working knowledge of Building Management Systems
- Possess working knowledge of single and three phase motors and control circuits
- Possess working knowledge of LV generator sets, including synchronisation panels
- Possess working knowledge of commercial refrigeration machines and air conditioning systems
- Possess working knowledge of commercial UPS and battery installations
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
- Experience in fault finding on control panels and switchboards. Experience of working within a high health and safety culture
Person
- Must have at least 3 years' experience working in a commercial environment
- Must be able to work at height and confined spaces
- Must be able to hold a British passport
- Must be able to obtain and sustain a high level of security clearance.
- Must have a recognised C&G level 3, or equivalent, qualification as a minimum in electrical or mechanical theory
- Must be able to attend training courses for development as required by management. Must be able to provide shift cover for leave and unplanned absence
- Valid clean driving licence
