Job summary

One Stop Stores Ltd is seeking a Shift Leader to oversee daily store operations and lead a team to deliver an excellent shopping experience. You will handle opening/closing duties, staffing, and customer service, ensuring safety and high presentation standards.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the Store Manager on events, absence management, and continuous improvement, while maintaining a welcoming and inclusive store environment for local communities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
• Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring customer, colleague and safety priorities are met
• Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
• Support the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating an inclusive atmosphere
• Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well presented
• Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers
• Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect good presentation
• Take action on overcharges and prevent recurrence
• Proactively manage queues to deliver a great shopping trip for customers
• Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns
• Know the store well and coordinate actions to improve operations
• Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
• Deliver clear communication to the team
• Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
• Put customers first and meet their needs
• Resolve customer queries promptly and leave them smiling
• Adjust service to meet individual customer needs
• Recognise and celebrate colleagues delivering great service
• Identify and remove obstacles to great service
• Resolve colleagues’ queries in the Store Manager’s absence or escalate
• Ensure adequate staffing and cover shifts for short-term absences/sickness
• Be a recognised Keyholder and attend alarm call-outs for safety
• Monitor and act on internal communications so colleagues are kept informed
• Coordinate colleagues to meet customer needs and store operations, report issues to the Store Manager
• Balance time across service and replenishment areas
• Support Store Manager onAbsence management and return-to-work interviews
• Develop relationships with Area Manager & People Partner to escalate issues and receive coaching
