Job summary

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the team to deliver smooth store operations
• Open/close the store and manage duty cover with customer and colleague safety in mind
• Be the go-to person for colleagues when the Store Manager is unavailable
• Support the Store Manager with seasonal/community events
• Ensure the store is clean, tidy and well presented
• Prioritise replenishment of customer-relevant products
• Keep POS and shelf edge labels accurate
• Take action on overcharges and prevent recurrence
• Manage queues to deliver a great shopping trip
• Coordinate colleagues to meet daily priorities and breaks
• Know the store well and drive practical improvements
• Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
• Communicate clearly with the team
• Seek ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
• Always put the customer first and adapt service to needs
• Resolve customer queries promptly with a smile
• Balance service and replenishment across the store
• Assist Store Manager with absence management and return-to-work interviews
• Build relationships with Area Manager and People Partner for timely coaching and support
• Ensure appropriate staffing and cover for short-term absences
• Act as a recognised Keyholder for alarms and store safety
• Monitor internal comms and keep colleagues informed
• Provide feedback to Store Manager on issues with colleagues during shifts
• Balance time between service and replenishment areas
• Support absence management and timely escalations
• Foster an inclusive workplace reflecting community diversity
