Overview

The School of Creative Industries at Kingston College is seeking a Technical Instructor to assist and support academic staff during formal classes and to instruct, supervise and assess individual students or groups of students with or without a member of teaching staff present. Largely based within Fashion & textiles, you’ll support the delivery of pattern cutting, garment construction, textile manipulation and printing. Supporting students to use specialist equipment and materials safely and appropriately, ensuring users are compliant with necessary health and safety requirements, you’ll maintain the efficient and safe functioning of classrooms, studios and workshops.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and support academic staff during formal classes and instruct, supervise and assess students or groups with or without a teaching staff present.
  • Support delivery of pattern cutting, garment construction, textile manipulation and printing (within Fashion & Textiles).
  • Ensure safe and appropriate use of specialist equipment and materials; ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain efficient and safe functioning of classrooms, studios and workshops.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience and good working knowledge of specialist equipment and resources across a range of Art and Design specialisms, including understanding Health and Safety regulations.
  • Qualification in a relevant Art and Design specialism (ideally Level 4 or above).
  • Experience of effectively using Microsoft applications, including the Adobe suite.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated with strong communication skills; organized and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Contract & Benefits

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 16 September 2025. The benefits package is pro-rated for part time staff.
