Job Description:
The service manager has responsibility for coordinating staff and resources to achieve high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of service users. Ensuring welfare, compliance with standards, and legislative requirements is essential. The role involves managing and supporting managers of five supported living projects and community activities for adults and children, reporting directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Referring including assessment, liaising with previous care team, family, and advocates, developing personalized care and risk management plans.
- Sustaining and supporting positive relationships and communication with service users, relatives, and professionals.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including relevant health and safety legislation.
- Maintaining an environment that complies with health, safety, and infection control standards, including risk assessments and fire checks.
- Cooperating with CIW, understanding CIW standards, and carrying out statutory notifications.
- Managing legal and statutory documentation related to the home.
- Documenting maintenance issues and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
- Monitoring and investigating complaints, generating reports, and implementing corrective actions.
- Recruiting, inducting, and training staff, supporting their development.
- Promoting openness, honesty, and a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Holding regular staff meetings, providing supervision, and supporting staff development.
- Building positive relationships with staff and ensuring effective communication mechanisms.
- Participating in disciplinary processes as needed.
- Managing staff scheduling, rotas, absences, and holiday management.
- Overseeing medication management, budgeting, and expenditure monitoring.
- Safeguarding service users and addressing safeguarding issues.
- Handling applications related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and working with personal representatives to ensure legal compliance.
- Being on call out of hours for advice and incident response.
- Attending supervision, maintaining CPD, and contributing to strategic growth.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by the director, including financial management and report writing.
The role requires skills and qualifications to support both adults and children with learning disabilities.
