Job Description:
The Service Manager has responsibility for coordinating staff and resources to achieve high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of service users. Ensuring welfare, compliance with standards, statutory and contractual requirements, and operating within legislative frameworks are key parts of the role. The Service Manager will oversee five supported living projects and community activities for adults and children of Lynton Community Care, reporting directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Refer and assess new service users, liaising with previous care teams, families, and advocates to develop personalized care and risk management plans.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with service users, relatives, and professionals involved in their care.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
- Manage environmental health, infection control, and health and safety legislation adherence, including risk assessments and fire safety checks.
- Collaborate with CIW, understand CIW Fundamental Standards, and carry out statutory notifications as needed.
- Manage legal and statutory documentation, including insurance and enrollment documents.
- Document maintenance issues and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
- Monitor and investigate complaints, generate reports, and implement corrective actions and service improvements.
- Recruit, induct, and train staff, supporting their development and ensuring a positive team culture.
- Hold regular staff meetings, support staff development, and manage disciplinary processes when necessary.
- Implement effective staff scheduling, manage absences, holidays, and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Oversee medication management, including ordering, disposal, and auditing.
- Manage budgets, including petty cash, food shopping, and activity budgets.
- Safeguard service users and address safeguarding issues proactively.
- Handle applications related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and work with personal representatives to ensure legal compliance.
- Be available on call out of hours for advice, guidance, and incident response.
- Attend supervision, engage in CPD, and contribute to strategic decision-making and business growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, consistent with skills and competence.
The Service Manager must have skills and qualifications supporting both adults and children with learning disabilities.
