EMRTS is consultant-led and aims to be the best prehospital and transfer service worldwide.

The service operates mainly on the Wales Air Ambulance Charity's fleet of helicopters and can also use rapid response vehicles for operational and weather resilience.

In addition to EMRTS, the role supports the Adult Critical Care Transfer Service (ACCTS), a predominantly road-based service with dedicated staff, vehicles, and equipment from Cardiff and Bangor bases.
