Job summary

The Glasgow-based Workplace Design Standards Lead role sits within Government Recruitment Service, reporting to the Estates portfolio. You will drive technical property standards, oversee design guides, manage consultants, and ensure compliance with strategic design frameworks.

You will champion smart working, space optimisation, and inclusive workplaces, lead change initiatives, and guide project design from inception to delivery across DWP estates.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of technical property standards for various building types across the portfolio, ensuring legal compliance and high standards.
• Lead the preparation and implementation of Design Guides, aligning with the Government-wide design strategy and Smart Working principles.
• Oversee design consultants delivering projects for the DWP and ensure teams are supported and utilised effectively.
• Lead on Workplace planning for the diverse workforce, including PAS3000 Smart Working, sustainability initiatives, and inclusive practices.
• Lead space optimisation and develop standards methodologies in partnership with Strategy and Portfolio Planning.
• Approve design compliance and governance for Real Estate projects across DWP departments, ensuring fit-for-purpose outcomes.
• Ensure the integrity of the DWP Estate portfolio and upgrade properties to maintain a robust, integrated technical infrastructure.
• Lead change management across Estates, driving continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement.
