Job summary

The Mick George Group, a growing waste brokerage business based at the Huntingdon head office, is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager. This role focuses on developing new business opportunities, managing customer relationships, and sourcing competitive waste solutions via third-party contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience in waste management or environmental services.
• Proven B2B sales experience.
• Experience procuring services from third-party waste contractors.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
• Understanding of waste streams and disposal options.
• Ability to assess supplier quotations and margins.
• Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify profitable opportunities.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple customers and projects.
• Confidence negotiating with customers and senior stakeholders.
• Proficient in MS Office/CRM and maintaining records.
• Proactive, self-motivated with focus on results.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities across commercial, industrial and other relevant waste streams
• Generate leads through prospecting, networking, referrals, tenders and targeted business development
• Build strong relationships with prospective and existing customers
• Understand customers' waste requirements and develop commercially viable solutions
• Prepare and present quotations, proposals and tenders
• Negotiate contracts, pricing and service arrangements with customers
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently achieve agreed revenue and margin targets
• Identify opportunities to increase customer spend through additional waste streams, services and locations
• Monitor market conditions, competitor activity and changes within the waste management sector
