Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Director to join the Transport and Mobility Team, with flexible home offices across the UK, including Liverpool. The role involves leading transport planning and traffic engineering for nationally significant projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will help shape growth, manage client relationships, and uphold health and safety standards within a hybrid working environment. This is a high-impact leadership position within the UK transport sector.

Qualifications

• Experience managing transport assessments and infrastructure design advice for major projects.
• Experience delivering multi-disciplinary projects with large teams in a hybrid/virtual environment.
• Experience engaging stakeholders at local authorities, planning inspectorate, DfT and other bodies.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, adaptability, negotiation, collaboration and organisational skills.
• Strong numerical, spatial, and analytical skills with MS Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of current transport policy at sub-regional to national level and planning consent processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical management and take commercial responsibility for transport work on major infrastructure programmes and proposals.
• Contribute to medium/long-term growth strategies and forecasts to guide investment and direction.
• Lead cross-discipline collaboration and improve intra-UK connectivity across projects.
• Ensure wellbeing, health and safety for direct reports and staff on projects.
• Keep up to date with relevant standards and policies.
• Raise WSP profile through networking, social media and conferences.
