Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Director Transport Planner to join our Transport Planning & Mobility team in Guildford. The role blends leading complex transport projects with strategic development across modes and client engagement.

You will manage project delivery, mentor junior staff, contribute to bids and business cases, and work with local authorities across the UK. The position offers hybrid working in our Guildford office with opportunities across the region.

Qualifications

• Experience working with local authorities in active travel, public transport, scheme development, transport studies, strategies and appraisals.
• Experience of developing transport focused strategies, plans and policies.
• Experience of working with Local Authority and Combined Authority clients.
• The ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines.
• Project management experience, with the ability to review client briefs and tenders, develop and contribute to fee proposals and lead project delivery.
• Commercial acumen and the ability to manage tasks and support wider team management in leading more junior members of the team.

Responsibilities

• Leading and/or managing a broad range of transport planning projects, with responsibility for project team management and budgeting.
• Leading and supporting in the preparation of bids, fee proposals and project programmes.
• Supporting senior colleagues to further develop and expand our work with clients across the UK.
• Provide specific support in securing and delivering work for our diverse local client portfolio.
• Undertake a lead role on technical review and checking of deliverables within the team.
• Be responsible for the financial performance of your projects and contribute to the commercial performance of our team.
