Job summary

Homeprotect is seeking a Technical Claims Team Manager to lead the high-value property claims unit. You will act as the technical expert for the wider claims department, taking ownership from notification to settlement and ensuring fair, clear outcomes for customers.

The role requires strong leadership, regulatory know-how (ICOBS, Consumer Duty), and the ability to identify risks and drive improvements. You will work in a hybrid setup, collaborating across teams with a focus on customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience handling property claims over £100,000 from notification through to settlement.
• Experience leading a home claims team with workload planning.
• People management experience including KPIs, coaching, and absence management.
• Experience handling complaints including FOS referrals.
• Deep knowledge of property claims best practices and UK insurance law (ICOBS, Consumer Duty).
• Experience supporting customers in vulnerable circumstances.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
• Ability to lead autonomously with a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage the Technical Claims team, with clear objectives and regular performance reviews.
• Handle the most complex property claims from notification to settlement.
• Make sound liability and value decisions within delegated authority and mentor the team.
• Plan workflow and allocate resources to meet service levels.
• Monitor reserves and ensure alignment with claims guidelines.
• Build relationships with supply chain partners to improve outcomes.
