A prestigious Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its established team in Cambridgeshire, delivering major DfE (Department for Education) schemes across the region. This is a standout opportunity for a commercially driven QS with a strong track record in education or public‑sector new build projects.

The Role

You will take full commercial responsibility for large‑value education projects, ensuring robust financial management throughout the lifecycle of each scheme. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all commercial aspects from pre‑construction through to final account
  • Leading procurement strategies and overseeing subcontractor packages
  • Preparing cost plans, forecasts, valuations, and detailed financial reports
  • Ensuring compliance with DfE frameworks, processes, and contractual requirements
  • Working closely with operational teams to support successful project delivery
  • Building and maintaining strong client and supply chain relationships
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior commercial team members
About You
  • Extensive experience as a QS/SQS within a main contracting environment
