Job summary
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join our Civil and Structural Team. You will lead design work for power plants, HV substations, HVDC converter stations, and HV cable projects, with responsibilities spanning FEED, detailed design, drawings for planning and tenders, and coordination across disciplines.
You will manage project budgets and schedules, craft proposals, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring National Grid CDAE compliance and adherence to British
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Chartered Engineer with relevant professional institutions.
- Good knowledge of design codes (BS, Eurocodes) and NGTS.
- Experience delivering FEED and detailed civil/structural design.
Responsibilities
- Project management of budgets, resources, and schedules.
- Lead FEED and detailed design for power plants and HV assets.
- Prepare drawings for planning applications and tender packages.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design and prepare specifications.
- Evaluate existing structures for reuse and ensure National Grid CDAE compliance.
- Support proposal writing and cost estimation.
