Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Technical Principal to lead civil/structural design across power generation and HV projects within our Energy division. You will guide FEED, costings, and design coordination while mentoring junior engineers in a hybrid UK environment.

You will manage proposals, develop robust schemes, and coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to deliver safe, fit-for-purpose solutions across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Advanced understanding of structural engineering principles including load-bearing capacity, materials, and Eurocodes/ASCE.
• Proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS or equivalent for modeling complex structures.
• Experience with BIM to improve visualization, coordination, and execution.

Responsibilities

• Carry out design work on power plants, HV substations, HVDC interconnectors, and HV cables.
• Lead projects, manage timelines and budgets, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare drawings for planning and tender packages; produce FEED deliverables and specifications.
