About this opportunity

From 11 UK sites, our team of nearly 1,000 people delivers unique capabilities across space, air, land, sea and cyber for military, security and commercial customers. In Tewkesbury we are the HQ for our Intelligence & Cyber International division. We are currently looking for individuals with a passion for technology to join our team of Cyber and Information Resilience Subject Matter Experts (SME) to create and deliver training to a range of internal and external customers.

Partnering with engineering teams and customer stakeholders to define training requirements for courseware content, design & develop courseware from initial concept through to delivery. This is a hands‑on role including product training delivery and training management. There will be opportunity to work on other exciting projects such as assisting with pre‑sales demonstrations, post‑sales customer support, maintaining complex solutions in our training fleet and working with engineers on product development. Hybrid working may be available but full‑time on‑site presence at our Tewkesbury facility is required.

What the role will involve
  • Plan, manage and execute technical training activities ensuring that appropriate staff, equipment and other resources are available and used efficiently and effectively.
  • Deliver training on cryptography solutions to customers at all levels, predominantly classroom‑based instructor‑led delivery in Tewkesbury or at customer sites.
  • Analyse, design and develop new training course material and update existing training material.
  • Create supporting documentation such as training course proposals, training plans and student handouts.
  • Become a product SME on the use of ICI products and integrated solutions containing third‑party partner solutions.
  • Maintain training pool stock for the cryptographic portfolio, ensuring level and quality are maintained and future requirements are planned in line with Company AOP, future sales and BD forecasting and new product development.
  • Assist in pre‑ and post‑sales technical support tasks on behalf of sales or customer support teams, such as product presentations, trials and demonstrations, 1st/2nd line helpdesk technical support, producing quotations and input to bid activities.
  • Prepare to travel internationally for short durations (typically up to 1 week).
  • Work closely with sales, engineering and product management by providing customer feedback and user SME.
  • Support the advancement of training capability by utilising best‑of‑breed delivery methods, technology and third parties.
  • Support definition of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for all customer training and maintain KPIs that monitor SLA achievement.
  • Oversee the career and learning development of assigned staff, including performance reviews, training, development and objective setting, and mentor trainers.
Essential experience and skills
  • Prior experience as a technical SME in IP networking, information & network security, IPsec or cryptographic solutions.
  • Experience implementing training programs using instructional design methodology, from initial concept through design and delivery.
  • Establishing a comprehensive technical training strategy and assurance mechanisms, documenting and applying feedback to improve delivery.
  • Experience managing day‑to‑day delivery of training services and supporting commercial functions such as business development and bid activities.
  • Demonstrable delivery of formal classroom‑based instructor‑led training and/or workplace training.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and organise work within a schedule and budget.
  • Keeping up to date with trends in instructional design and technology‑enhanced learning, advising stakeholders on growth and innovation.
Desirable skills
  • Background within the military or government sectors and familiarity of military practice on the deployment of cryptographic capabilities.
  • Formal training qualification such as L3 Award in Education and Training (L3 AET).
  • Completion of recognised DSAT courses (Training Needs Analysis, Course Design, Defense Trainer) or strong practical understanding of DSAT.
  • Knowledge of media production tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Blender, Autodesk Maya, etc.
  • Familiarity with e‑Learning design principles, technologies and applications (authoring tools and LMS).
  • Experience implementing training systems via non‑traditional methods (virtual classroom, CBT, e‑Learning).
