Job description

My client is a successful and highly regarded residential civils and groundworks company, currently recruiting for a Senior Site Engineer, to be based across the Midlands. The Senior Site Engineer will lead engineering activities across residential civils and groundworks projects, ensuring technical accuracy, quality compliance, and efficient site delivery. This role oversees setting-out, site supervision, design coordination, and subcontractor management while supporting project managers in meeting programme, safety, and cost objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Site Engineering & Technical Leadership
  • Lead and oversee setting-out activities for foundations, drainage, roads and infrastructure components for residential projects.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring works comply with design, standards, and building regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and site teams.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Implement and manage quality control procedures, including inspections, ITPs, as-built records, and test documentation.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to industry standards and company quality requirements.
  • Resolve engineering issues on-site and liaise with designers to address discrepancies.
Site Coordination & Supervision
  • Coordinate daily site activities with subcontractors to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
  • Assist in planning work sequences and contribute to short-term and long-term programme development.
  • Ensure accurate records of work progress, materials, equipment, and labour.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and company safety standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and risk assessments; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain daily site diaries, survey logs, and engineering reports.
  • Prepare and submit technical documentation including RFI's, method statements, and red-line drawings.
  • Support change management processes through accurate measurement, verification, and reporting of variations.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer within residential civil engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, utilities, structural elements, and infrastructure components.
  • Geo-technical experience, an understanding of CBRs earthworks
  • Leica GPS machine control experience and creating models and using the Conx system
  • Skilled in interpreting drawings, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate site records.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong understanding of construction regulations, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
