Version 1 is seeking a strategic, systems-minded Senior Service Designer to join our growing design capability. You’ll work at the heart of multidisciplinary teams to shape end-to-end services that are accessible, efficient, and centred around real user needs.

You’ll lead on mapping current and future states, align digital delivery with policy and operational realities, and help clients make confident, evidence-based decisions through workshops, service visions, and well-defined journeys.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering GOV.UK Service Standard or public sector projects.
• Able to simplify complexity and design usable, scalable services.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and guiding teams.
• Expert in workshops and stakeholder navigation.
• Design for accessibility across channels.
• Define service vision and align teams.
• Pitch value of service design to diverse audiences.
• Excellent communication across audiences.
• Use design-thinking and systems thinking.

Responsibilities

• Lead service design across full lifecycle from discovery to live.
• Map current and future states aligned with policy and operations.
• Shape service visions and facilitate workshops.
• Define structures, processes and journeys for great services.
• Collaborate with content/interaction designers, PMs, researchers.
