Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a Senior Service Designer to join our design capability in the UK. You will shape end-to-end services that are accessible, efficient, and centered on user needs, working across discovery to live service stages.

You will map current and future states, align delivery with policy, and guide teams through evidence-based decisions. You’ll collaborate with content, interaction design, product managers, researchers, and technical leads to shape service visions, run workshops, and

Qualifications

• Experience with GOV.UK Service Standard or public sector.
• Ability to simplify complexity—make services usable, scalable, and understandable for teams and users.
• Comfort working in ambiguity and guiding teams to direction.
• Plan and lead workshops; navigate diverse stakeholders.
• Design for accessibility and inclusion across channels and touchpoints.
• Define the service vision and unite a team around it.
• Communicate value to varied audiences and stakeholders.
• Build an evidence base to support design decisions.
• Interpret performance data to inform design decisions and metrics.
• Think long-term, sustainable, future-proof services.
• Visualise complex systems with blueprints, journey maps, or diagrams.
