Job summary

Pioneer Plant Ltd is seeking an experienced Service Commercial Manager to lead and grow its service department at a UK construction equipment dealership. You will oversee 10–12 field and workshop engineers and collaborate with the Aftermarket Manager and General Manager to deliver high-quality service.

You will drive profitable growth, improve technician productivity, and ensure safe, efficient service delivery with a strong commercial mindset and customer focus.

Qualifications

• Leads a service operation in a UK dealership environment.
• Strong understanding of field service and workshop operations.
• Commercial focus on labour sales, margins and costs.
• Ability to lead and develop engineers with accountability.
• Clear communication with customers, technical teams and senior management.
• Data-led approach to KPIs, planning and continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with dealer management systems and service scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Lead the service team to plan, allocate and complete work efficiently.
• Drive profitable growth through labour sales, productivity and timely invoicing.
• Support scheduling and prioritisation with the Service Controller.
• Collaborate with the Technical Manager to improve first-time fix rates.
• Resolve escalated customer issues with sound commercial judgement.
• Improve planning with Parts to reduce downtime and emergency orders.
• Assist Sales with pre-delivery inspections and service-related decisions.
• Review KPIs, forecasts and budgets and translate into actions.
• Maintain accurate job records and compliance with UK health and safety rules.
• Develop an accountable, collaborative engineering team.
